Respond to Lisa's first posting below. Then, tell us something of your thinking behind your response. What were you trying to achieve in your response? Lisa writes.... Hello everyone Feeling a bit nervous as, from what' I've read so far, there are people here with lots more experience than I have. Im especially interested in conflict approaches to understanding SEN and I have just taken on the deputy headship so I'm here to see what I can learn from this courses. So apologies in advance if I stay rather quiet for a while and just listen - and hopefully learn, though I have a lot to learn in this department. Something about me. I am sure that after a few attempts you will think you've always done this and it will become second nature. There is always a place for sitting and reflecting but don't be afraid to join in whenever you feel you have something to say. My advice would be to try and imagine that you are actually having the conversation 'live' so to speak. If you feel you would have said something or added something to the discussion it is important to do so. We all support you and share similar concerns and we will all learn together and from each other. I'm sure you will enjoy it when you get started!

Hmm, I less sure about this aspect. Is it OK for all your students to watch adn listen? Is this what you are expecting of them? You might talk about how it feels not to get a response to a message and why it is important to respond. Rhona

You will need lots of patience and perserverence as the logging in process is slow. I would advise you to click onto Unit 1 first as it explains the process and you can try applying this to your workplace. The EBD materials are actually very useful for understanding a huge range of issues particularly conflict. Once you've had a chance to look at that unit, let us know what you think?

This is a good idea Liz - it's useful to end your message with a direct question if you are trying to establish a dialogue. You want to get teh students into the habit of always reading adn responding. In face to face we'd just sit adn look expectantly for a response - online we need to be more direct!
